I got my field experience placement today! I'm so excited! It's a third grade classroom. The only thing I am nervous about is that we have to actually teach one lesson with the head of the ed department watching. I know I write awesome lessons and I can give awesome demo lessons to my classmates, but actually being in the classroom and teaching... I'm very nervous but excited about it!

How could touch-screen technology enhance the way you currently use your PC? How could it make things worse?
I think it would be fun, and would have the potential to make computers more accessible/easier to use for some people.

So a lot of kids in Zach's class are taking soccer this year. I don't think a four year old needs to be on a soccer team, especially when registration is about $100. Yikes.

I love all seven Harry Potter books, but my favorites are the sixth and third. Tales of Beedle the Bard is pretty decent, too.

Been watching Roseanne a ton, which makes me laugh so much; and starting to exercise, which makes me feel good.

I went under my bed searching for a case to a now-overdue DVD from the library and my copy of What It Is by Lynda Barry. Sadly I did not find the book, but in addition to the DVD case (phew!) I found the following items:
-A box set of The Godfather Trilogy
-A creepy magazine with a close-up of Arnold Schwarzenegger on the cover
-Two perfectly intact spiral notebooks (one green, one blue)
-An ancient fucking sippy cup, no way am I gonna touch it
-A mix CD a boy made for me in high school
-Lots of unpopped popcorn kernals
I remeber when I got the bed... maybe it was a year ago? A year and a half? I know Zach was maybe two because he was climbing on on all the beds in the store... anyhow, when I got the bed, I remember I was super embarrassed becase when they hauled out my old bed there were a TON of (unused!) condoms under it. Like, two dozen or more, and I just scopped them all up real quick before they came back in.

it is so hard for me to do computer-based work. i get so easily distracted!
sometimes i can't believe i'm still in school. people who graduated high school the year i did graduated college this year and i am still not done. i've got two more years. i'll have a b.a. and a m.a.t. when i'm done, but still. i'm tired.

I kind of admire people who blog regularly on their cool blogs. It's something I wish I had the will/attention span to do myself.
One of my professors said my semester project was the best one she'd ever read. I'm quite proud.

2 portfolios
2 books to be read
5 tests
+ a volunteer day at zach's school

I'm applying for a teacher's aide job! Typing up my resume as we speak. I know all I'm doing right now is applying but I'm so nervous and excited! How awesome would it be to have a real job in a school? Keep your fingers crossed for me!
